Frequently Asked Questions

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese energy-based wellness practice that promotes relaxation. Reiki is generally considered a complementary wellness practice, not a substitute for medical care or mental health treatment. Scientific evidence for specific health benefits remains limited.

What is a Reiki Practitioner?

A Reiki practitioner provides a calming, supportive experience designed to encourage relaxation and a sense of balance. Through gentle hand placements, a practitioner guides clients through a restorative wellness session in a comfortable, welcoming environment. At Radiant Restorative Reiki, each session offers an opportunity to slow down, release the demands of the day, and make space for rest and renewal.

What makes someone a Reiki practitioner?

Practitioners typically complete Reiki training with a Reiki Master Teacher, progressing through multiple levels of training. Requirements and credentials vary because there is no single universally mandated licensing standard for Reiki practitioners in the United States.

Should I prepare? What should I expect?

There is nothing you need to prepare. Come as you are. Dress comfortably. During your session, your practitioner channels energy through their hands to support your body’s own restorative processes. You will be relaxing fully clothed on a massage table.

What does Reiki feel like?

Each experience is unique. You may notice warmth or coolness, tingling, a sense of relaxation, emotional release, or a quiet, restful, state. Plan to feel “zenned out” and possibly fall asleep! It’s a sign the body is relaxed and resting. Most people feel relaxed and notice a sense of ease or balance in the days following the session.

What should I do after my session?

Rest, hydrate, and ease back into your day. Journaling can help integrate the experience. Enjoy feeling lighter and less stressed!
